The Intermountain Section provides various opportunities to honor those active in the water community through our Awards Programs. The awards are listed and described below. Click the award headers below to access the nomination forms. The nomination deadline has been extended to June 26, 2026.
Outstanding Service Award -To recognize an AWWA member who, over at least seven years, has demonstrated outstanding service to the section through leadership and active participation in AWWA programs.
Outstanding Administration Award - To recognize special performance by AWWA members who are administrative personnel supporting water districts/ systems in the areas of compliance, maintenance, development, training, and outstanding achievement beyond normal duties and responsibilities.
Outstanding Operator - Idaho & Utah - Nominee must be a member of AWWA and a certified operator within the section, currently performing operational duties at the time of nomination.
Distinguished Public Service - To recognize an AWWA member who has made outstanding contributions to public service by demonstrating exceptional, long-term voluntary service in a leadership capacity in or with community-based activities such as church, fraternal, youth, or service oriented organizations and/or exceptional volunteer service to federal, state, provincial, municipal, or other governmental entities.
Charles W. Wilson Award - To recognize an individual AWWA member's special performance in the following areas, Years of Service: 20 years or more of distinguished service to the water works industry. Leadership: Provides exceptional leadership for the advancement of the water works industry. Mentoring: Shares knowledge, expertise, and wisdom within the water works industry to his/her community. Contribution: Makes consistent and exceptional contributions to the AWWA Intermountain section, the water works industry, and service to his/her community. Vision: Plans long-term economic growth and expansion to meet the needs of the water users' present and future needs.
Award of Merit -To recognize those outside the water profession who have demonstrated outstanding service in support of the principles of the Intermountain Section of AWWA in providing better water for people. The nominee CANNOT be employed in the water profession.
Young Professional - To recognize young professionals who have exhibited leadership in the Utah/Idaho water industry in one or more of the following areas by demonstrating exceptional technical expertise in water related fields, a commitment to leadership by contributing new ideas or overcoming problems, and active involvement with AWWA-IMS section, AWWA, or other water related organizations.
