Public Relations & Education Committee
This committee works to provide resources for the Annual AWWA Water Week. "Water Week is a major annual educational campaign designed to provide public awareness and involvement in water issues, both locally and globally.” Contact Chair Lindsay Minck to volunteer.
This committee's opportunities include:
- Prepare and mail out books to public libraries
- Assure that water week materials are posted on the Section's website
Water For People Committee
Water For People is an international, nonprofit humanitarian organization that helps people in developing countries improve quality of life by supporting the development of locally sustainable drinking water resources, sanitation facilities, and hygiene education programs. Contact Chair Jeremy Williams to volunteer.
This committee executes the Annual Water For People Benefit Golf Tournament and the Silent Auction at the Section's Annual Conference.
This committee's opportunities include:
- Contact sponsors for the golf tournament
- Secure the facility for the tournament
- Acquire prizes for the tournament
- Make lunch arrangements for the tournament
- Sit at registration for the tournament
- Contact previous donors to acquire items for the auction
- Sit at the booth during the auction
- Take photos of the events
- Write articles for the Section newsletter
- Assure that WFP events are posted on the Section's website
Scholarship Committee
The Scholarship Committee reviews scholarship applications and awards the Section's scholarships. In addition they plan and implement the scholarship award banquet and the scholarship golf tournament each year. Contact Chair Dani Zebelean to volunteer.

- Advertise scholarship availability
- Review scholarship applications
- Plan events
- Assure that scholarship applications, winners, and events are posted on the Section's website
2025 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS (CLOSED)
The Intermountain Section AWWA scholarship program supports students in the field of water quality, supply, and treatment in the Intermountain West.
The Section sponsors three scholarships:

Every applicant will also receive a one-year AWWA student membership just for applying.

Social Media Committee
The Social Media Committee is a new committee and looks to promote Section membership and Section events using social media. Contact Chair Jordan King to volunteer.

Legislative & Regulatory Affairs Committee
This committee runs the Annual Legislative Update held at the Utah State Capitol. Contact Chair Troy Stout to volunteer.
Leadership Development Committee
This committee runs the Leadership Forum. The purpose of the Leadership Forum is to strengthen leadership skills to benefit others in their organization. Contact Chair Jeanette Perry to volunteer.
Technical & Education Council
Water Quality Committee
This committee runs the Water Taste Test at the Annual Conference and holds various training events throughout the year. The Chair position is open. Contact Council Chair Brandon Nielsen to volunteer.

Engineering and Construction Committee
This committee provides opportunities throughout the year to tour construction sites and completed projects. Contact Chair Kasey Chesnut to volunteer.

Safety and Security Committee
AWWA believes a safe work environment is of paramount importance to protect individuals in the water profession who safeguard their community water supplies. Contact Chair Jeff Betton to volunteer.

Small Systems Committee
This committee focuses on small distribution systems. Contact Council Chair Brandon Nielsen to volunteer.
This committee's opportunities include:
- Scheduling and providing six operator workshops throughout Utah
- Holding the CEU sale in December
- Teaching during workshops
- Moderating sessions during workshops
Treatment and Distribution Committee
This committee focuses on treatment and large systems and runs the Cram for the Exam courses. Contact Chair Josh Shrewsbury to volunteer.

- Scheduling the Cram for the Exam courses
- Help organize and run the Meter Madness Competition at Midyear Conference
- Plan and coordinate speakers for the trainings

Member Engagement Committee
This committee focuses on the membership of the Section. They will help increase awareness of membership benefits throughout the year. Contact Chair Mark Chandler to volunteer.

Young Professional & Student Committee
The Young Professionals committee caters to those 35 and younger or Young Professionals (YP) as well as the members of the section. The YP committee organizes site visits and plant tours throughout the year as well as the Fun Night Game Show competition at the annual conference. Contact Chair Brooklyn Hall to volunteer.

- Organizing and facilitating YP events.
- Help with PR and marketing the program.
- Design flyers and advertisements for the programs and events.
